Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all forms of artistic dance.  Students learn the basics of ballet: proper alignment, body placement, timing, creative movement,
attention to detail and technique.   In order to become proficient in jazz, contemporary, tap, Broadway, or partnering, the dancer must have ballet training.

  • Discovery Ballet
The natural tendency for little children is to move, dance and pretend.  This is an ideal time to introduce them to the world of dance.  A class specifically for
children 4 to 6 years old, they will learn to work in their own body space, wait their turn, to learn respect for the studio, the teacher, and other dancers.  They will
learn basic ballet positions, age appropriate exercises and techniques, correct postures, and how to be positive and creative.  *Taught in combination with
Discovery Tap.

Tap
Tap is an intricate form of rhythm dance.  The rhythm moves through the body and emphasizes the sounds articulated by the feet.  Choreographed tap allows
the student to perfect the techniques of tap, work around the floor, perform combinations, join the sounds together, and become rhythmical.

  • Discovery Tap
Similar to Discovery Ballet (see above), Discovery Tap is a class specifically for children between 4 and 6 years old to learn the basics of tap technique with easy
to follow dance steps.  *Taught in combination with Discovery Ballet.

choreography.

Contemporary
Contemporary modern dance originated as an innovation of classical ballet.  Although there are many similarities between both forms of dance, contemporary
modern dance is more liberal in its exploration of form, technique, and musical style.  Contemporary dance explores the more organic way of movement, the
understanding of the human body and the relationship between the body, mind and soul and the whole environment.  It finds the connection between the body and
the dance to create a harmonious way of dancing.

  • Contemporary
A class for teens and adults that teaches the physical aspects of contemporary dance so that the dancers express the emotion of the choreography through their
technical Modern movements.

Jazz
Made big by Broadway and Hollywood, Jazz and has continued to evolve with various ethnic and cultural influences since it’s origin in the late 1950’s.  Like ballet,
jazz tends to be very technical with an emphasis on flexibility, progressions of turning and jumping across the floor, patterns, and working as a group.  A wide range
of musical options lends itself to a variety of interpretations.

Lyrical Jazz maintains the percussive rhythmic characteristics that define jazz, but incorporates elements of ballet and contemporary dance in order to obtain a
smooth lengthening look and lyrical quality.  A strong technical background in both jazz and ballet is very helpful.

Hip Hop is a fun high energy choreographed workout that requires the basic postures, and fundamental movements of jazz; which includes warm-up, stretches, floor
work, jazz techniques, across the floor combinations, and choreography; that will incorporate funky, urban moves, along with popular music, into its style.
